Where can you teach a class, take a meeting with a top editor, bump into Terry Eagleton, work on a novel, study the writing of nuns, fall in love with Gertrude Stein, attend an abstract workshop, a folklore colloquium, attend the Rhetoric and Composition reading series, a Bollywood film, a Q & A with Stephen King, an interview with a job candidate and meet Joseph McElroy? The Williams Building. It not only houses FSU's English department, it brings together professionals-to-be with legends in their field. And these are just the events that happen here.
Tuesday nights we enjoy the Warehouse Reading Series, which hosts readings by students and professors as well as such award-winning guests as Jean Valentine, Yusef Komunyakka and Rick Moody (all in the span of a few months).
Seasonally the department hosts parties and picnics and potlucks.
For lovers of good music, Student Campus Entertainment hosts nationally acclaimed bands like Sun Volt, Andrew Bird, Old Crow Medicine Show and Wilco in our very own, on campus Club Downunder
And if this isn't enough, Tallahassee and its environs (Wakulla Springs, Apalachicola National Forest, St. George Island, St. Marks Wildlife Refuge, et al) are beautiful for just being outside.
